Phonics screening check

In June of Year 1, children read 40 words aloud to a teacher. Those who don't meet the standard re-take it in Year 2.

Strong foundations

Secure reading, writing and number skills in KS1 make the step up to KS2 much smoother.

Science too

KS1 science topics such as plants, animals, materials and seasons are taught as theory.
